All new members and guests
please read the following general rules:
Gym Use:
The Royal City Badminton club has been notified by the Board of Education that effective immediately, we may
no longer enter the Gym with street shoes on. This means any shoe style that has been worn outside.
At the Centennial Gym all members and guests shall please enter the Gym through the change rooms and must remove their street shoes here and put on a court style shoe. Please do not wear your court shoes in from the parking lot as this will still track in debris.
The janitorial staff has advised that anyone caught wearing street shoes will not be allowed to play and subsequent incidents may result in
our contract being revoked.
I would request that each of us share in the responsibility for ensuring compliance of this rule.
Also a reminder,
students of Centennial may not go to their lockers during Badminton. All personal equipment must be taken home prior to the end of the normal school day.
Etiquette:
Badminton is considered an honour sport and as such, the utmost respect is to be shown to your opponents no matter what skill level they may play at. Generally you compliment a good shot or rally while an uncertain call, goes in favour of your opposition. Show respect when crossing the end of a court by yielding to play. Shake hands and introduce yourself to start play and upon completion. Good manners and courtesy are catching.
- No foul language or inappropriate behaviour will be tolerated. ie: swearing or caught in restricted areas.
- No food or beverage allowed in the gym except for tournaments (in equipment room only).
- Court time shall be distributed fairly and experienced players are expected to mix with others. When your
game is done, give your court to the next group waiting. The court supervisor may use a waiting list.
- Rally point scoring is in effect.
Attire:
Court type shorts/sweats and a t-shirt are required. A designated pair of court shoes with a gum or non-marking sole
must be worn.
Do not enter the gym before changing into your designated court shoes. You must enter the gym through the change rooms off the Athletic hall where you must change into proper court attire.
- All players 18 years of age and under MUST WEAR APPROVED EYE PROTECTION. Eye protection
